Established in 2006, this award honors Joseph E. Graham,
M.D., an obstetrician and gynecologist who was a charter
member of the profession founded in 1954, and a pioneering
practitioner and surgeon for over 40 years.

The Graham Family encourages you to nominate a physcian you know, who emulates the following criteria.
Specifically, the award committee will consider physician
specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, who have been
in clinical practice for at least 10 years. This biennial
award will be presented to a physician who exemplifies the
following characteristics and humanitarian achievements
in direct clinical practice:
- One who follows the approach of the least amount of
intrusion into the natural process of delivery, and lives
by the motto “first do no harm.”
- One who has and is making a difference in their community
through their commitment to pro bono medical education
or direct service to those in need.
- One who has demonstrated compassion for those suffering
from the death of a baby at any time during pregnancy,
delivery, or in the newborn period, and is helping to
develop centers for follow-up care in their practicing
community and hospital.
- One who desired to become a physician out of passion,
commitment, and uses a holistic approach in the care of
women and their families.
- One who is an innovative member of society, who holds
in high regard the education of patients in an equal partnership
of care, and shares the mission of finding answers to
causes of death during pregnancy.
To nominate a physician for this award:
- Submit a curriculum vitae
- Provide a narrative outlining the nominee’s contributions
to the health care of women, and mothers and their babies
during pregnancy, as they correspond to the above listed
criteria.
