PLIDA, Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Alliance, is pleased to present the most comprehensive national conference to date, focusing on the experience of the death of a baby during pregnancy, birth or infancy.
The 16th National Perinatal Bereavement Conference (NPBC) Planning Committee has sought to build upon the tradition of providing timely clinical information, advances in research and nationally renowned speakers to provide participants with a rich learning environment and networking opportunities.
2008 NPBC Goals:
- Provide information on current topics, including innovative program models, current research data and best practice, with a focus on the emotional aspects of perinatal bereavement and providing compassionate and comprehensive relationship-based care to families throughout their reproductive and parenting years
- Promote networking among practitioners, including health caregivers, counselors, educators, researchers, and parent advocates, who work with bereaved families across North America
- Raise awareness of the emotional impact of perinatal death on families, including attention to cultural and spiritual diversity
- Support practitioners by providing educational and networking opportunites in a retreat-like setting, exhibiting products and services, and promoting partnership with local and national organizations
This four day conference, which includes one day of preconference sessions, followed by three days of plenary, concurrent and networking sessions, and a memorial service, is expected to draw more than 400 attendees. Practitioners, who provide services to families experiencing perinatal loss, as well as parent advocates, are expected to attend.
